Getting noticed on Instagram is not easy.
How should people find you, among more than 500 million monthly active users? You’re not a needle in a haystack… you’re smaller. You’re a high heel in Kim Kardashian’s closet!
But, if your photos are good enough, there is an easy way to expand your audience – being featured by another account. It’s a free way to gain publicity and find people who are already interested in the things you post about.
From giants with more than half a million fans to small communities of kindred spirits, these twenty accounts are the real deal. And the one thing they have one thing in common is their passion for travel, good photography and helping talented Instagrammers grow.
Do you have what it takes to be featured by any of them? You won’t know until you try.
PS: Check out my Instagram to see what kind of photos get featured. I’ve had my work shared by most of these accounts, although not all (yet…). If you like my gallery don’t forget to follow me @girlvsglobe pretty please!
Yes, I have a feature account too now. It’s only a baby, but more than 7,000 photos have already been shared using #girlsvsglobe! Our new Instagram aims to promote all the ladies from my Facebook group, so join us if you haven’t yet.
How do I get featured?
Using the hashtag is a great way to get noticed and sometimes that’s all you need to do. Double check that you’ve spelled everything correctly – it’s simple advice but can make all the difference.
Many of the accounts I’ve listed below list an email address in their bio, so take advantage of it and introduce yourself! Do not bombard them with messages though – that’s a surefire way to never get featured by anyone.
Top tip! Keep at it. It might take months before an account features you, but don’t let that discourage you or make you think your photography isn’t good enough (although there’s always room for improvement).
List of hashtags
Put together a list of hashtags – I use the Notes app on my iPhone – so you can easily copy and paste them instead of frantically searching for them every time. Here are all twenty hashtags from this post:
