Last month’s Girls vs Globe linkup was a huge success, which is why it’s back again – even better than last time.
Here’s what it’s all about… a bunch of Girls vs Globe (join the group if you haven’t done so yet!) come together to share links to their best posts of the month and interact with one another. Last month we had 58 amazing entries!
If you’re a blogger, post your favourite thing you’ve written in the linkup below. If you don’t have a blog, join the conversation by commenting below and telling everyone about your biggest accomplishments this month.
The world can seem a little glum sometimes, so let’s spread the love and positivity! Let this be a reminder of how far you’ve come in the space of thirty odd days… you rock!
January on Girl vs Globe
So long, 2015! Last year was all about finishing my degree and converting ‘Girl vs Globe’ into my full-time job, but I had some pretty incredible travel moments as well.
It was all good fun but I definitely want 2016 to be a healthier and more relaxed year for me, both mentally and physically. To help me I put together a list of New Years resolutions that will actually be fun to keep – have you seen it yet?
I welcomed 2016 in Madrid with a group of good friends and my boyfriend and it was pretty amazing. Granted, the weather wasn’t great but we made the most of it – check out how we spent one rainy Sunday in Madrid below…
We also got to sample lots of delicious Spanish food with Madrid Food Tour and their amazing tour guide Luke. You may remember that I did a tour with the same company in Barcelona last yet (watch the video here) – and yes, this one was just as amazing.
After our trip to Spain, Peter and I returned to Manchester for a few days only to head to France. We’d been invited on a skiing trip with Mark Warner and as we’re both quite the ski bunnies we had to say yes.
Cue a week of fun in the snow, achy knees and a bit of apres ski – I can’t wait to share all my experiences with you! My post and video aren’t quite ready yet but I did already put together a very comprehensive packing list video… what do you think? Would you like to see more of these?
What else is new on the blogging front? I wrote a very popular post on how to make money blogging, sharing all my tips and even how much I actually earn. I also wrote a guide on how to travel the world as a student which many people seem to have found helpful.
This month I am adding a new section to our monthly linkup – a few amazing featured bloggers! If you’d like to know how to become one of them, click here.
I AM AILEEN
First up, we have Aileen from I Am Aileen. This ambitious Filipina has been making waves in the travel blogging world for quite some time now – this is what she has to say about her blog:
“At 21, I quit my corporate job in the Philippines to travel the world. Today, I am a digital nomad and entrepreneur living a sustainable travel lifestyle!
In this website that I run together with my travel partner, Jonas, we aim to show you how it is absolutely possible to create a life of travel no matter what the odds may be. We also show the best types of travel experiences and resources that will help any kind of traveler in planning a memorable getaway!
We plan to accomplish these goals by inspiring people through our life story and personal travel adventures, sharing our detailed and information-packed blog articles that will revolve around travel hacks, guides, recommendations and tips.”
Next up – Sam from Yoko Meshi. Her blog’s name literally means ‘a meal eaten sideways’ – meshi means ‘boiled rice’ and yoko means ‘horizontal’. This is how the Japanese define the peculiar stress induced by speaking a foreign language: yoko is a humorous reference to the fact that Japanese is normally written vertically, whereas most foreign languages are written horizontally.
“I’m Sam and I currently live in London. I work as a Veterinary Nurse (with a special interest in emergency and critical care) and the the rest of my time is spent seeking out adventures around our glorious globe. I also scuba dive, not that well yet, but I do.
This blog is about the things I have seen and experienced around the world, then everything in between. My hope for this blog is to share my passion for the world and travelling with people who may not have thought about seeing the world this way before; as well as sharing the my elephant nature parkexperiences with people who already love to travel. Further more I have a strong interest in responsible tourism and want to help spread awareness within this area.”
And last but not least, Hannah from That Adventurer. Hannah really is an adventurer, covering all sorts of adrenaline-packed activities – white water rafting, scuba diving, canyonning, bungee jumping, mountain biking, flying a plane, trekking… You name it, she’s probably tried it!
“I’m a complete travel nut and has been searching for adventure ever since I climbed Mount Vesuvius aged 6! I’m never one to turn down a challenge, whether it be a bungee jump, learning to tango, or trying my hand in the kitchen. I hope that ThatAdventurer will inspire you to try something new and get out there and see the world.
Being That Adventurer is all about going off the beaten path, living with locals and discovering the real side of a country. It’s about accepting challenges and learning new things (whether that be a language, a recipe or a dance).
Food and travel are the perfect partners. To fully experience a country I believe you have to eat its national dishes, and try its national drinks (did someone say Capirinha?). I love trying to recreate dishes that I’ve eaten abroad and trying to get them perfect.”
