The little white dress is like the little black dress’s younger sister. Fresh, spontaneous and carefree, she when she enters the room everyone takes notice.
The little white dress is also a great choice for those warm summer days when the idea of clothes sticking to your body makes you want to spend the rest of your life in a bathtub full of ice. It’s a simple answer to the difficult question of: “What should I wear today?”
To be perfectly honest, there are only two reasons to avoid the little white dress in the summer. What are they? Ice cream and spaghetti bolognese. Other than that, the little white dress is as universally appealing as they come. The options are endless – a minimalistic A-line dress, a romantic frilly number or a bohemian off-shoulder design…
I opted for the last kind – a flimsy dress with boho chic vibes, which you can wear anywhere from the beach to a fancy cocktail dinner! When it comes to accessorising you don’t need to go too overboard, which is why I just opted for some golden accents and a signature handbag. I got my Italian leather beauty from Maxwell Scott. At £357 it wasn’t the cheapest purchase, but nothing can make you look more put together while travelling than a high quality handbag!
I chose it because it’s an amazing Birkin lookalike – a bag which I am saving up for now to buy in my next lifetime. The more I travel, the more I am beginning to appreciate the importance of buying things that won’t break within the month and with the Barella I wasn’t too nervous, because it comes with a 25-year warranty. In other words, if it breaks on my 45th birthday I will be able to exchange it. That’s some serious future planning!
The handbag also has a lovely spacious interior and it can just about fit my 13″ MacBook, so it’s the perfect bag for day-to-day business. To make sure nobody takes my new little baby away from me, I also decided to have my initials embossed on the top flap – a very affordable way to make anything you own feel like the most luxurious item under the sun.
